@Mama Goose

There are quite a few technological advantages included in Mac Os X which are FOSS and give a competetive edge over *BSD and Linux.

I do use VLC when I boot into Mac. I'm hardly a Mac developer, more like a user. =(

Sorry can't help much.

This is a common problem with non-Linux platforms; lots of users but few developers that care about free software enough to participate. Probably Ubuntu is closest to Apple in this regard.

The lack of Mac VLC devs was proved bullshit:

Why? Mac is a stinking proprietary platform for people who are too rich and stupid to run Linux.

I recommend MPlayer over VLC for everyone but Windows users.
There's an official Mac frontend for MPlayer, and it's at least as comprehensive as VLC, if not more, and it's more stable and versatile.
