There should be a board meeting at 1900 UTC in #spi on irc.oftc.net, according to the last meeting. There’s no announcement or agenda online at the time of writing. (If only you’d elected me…)
Hopefully, a meeting will decide on issuing a statement in support of the campaign against Software Patents and supporting FACIL taking on the Quebec proprietary software problem.
Update: The agenda appeared between the time of writing and the time of posting.
MJ, there actually was an agenda posted at the usual URL (also linked in #spi /topic) as of the time of your blog post; view it at:
http://www.spi-inc.org/secretary/agenda/2008/2008-09-17.html
The announcement had also been sent as of your blog post, as anyone on the board list can confirm, but it got held for moderation on -announce due to accidental technical issues. I resent the announcement with a minor typo correction and a different sender address a few minutes ago, and that copy should arrive shortly. The technical issues have been addressed for the future.
It would be great if you could update your blog post with these corrections. Regarding the software patent statement, I haven’t had a chance to read your draft yet, but I’ll add it to the agenda now in hopes that it can be addressed anyway. Please attend the meeting to present it if you are able to do so.
The FACIL support would warrant advice from an accountant or attorney familiar with US nonprofit tax issues before we do it, as several board members have stated on spi-general, but could happen at a future meeting.

I wrote the post a couple of days ago and the agenda wasn’t posted then. I’ll update the post, but will you post announcements a bit earlier than 0-day in future, please?
Readers can see from the link that several board members have stated on spi-general that they think there should be advice, but have any started getting it? That’s not something ordinary members can do.
I probably won’t be at this meeting, due to attending North Somerset PCT after accepting an invitation sent to our local council.
I agree about announcing meetings earlier than on the same day. The delay was because I was specifically trying to resolve one or two questions related to minutes so that I could properly write that mail. I intend to not make a habit of doing the initial meeting announcements on the day of the meeting.
We will get the advice regarding FACIL support, but there have been more pressing issues (including some necessarily confidential stuff as well as the usual treasurer stuff etc) taking up the time we’ve had available for SPI recently. As I said, the advice is not ready in time to act this meeting, but we will pursue it.
